Concert Band Classics at Dana Auditorium

 

Winds of War . . . and Peace

     Saturday, December 5, 2009

Composers throughout history have been inspired by the heroism and sacrifice--and the tragedy--of war.  The Charlotte Concert Band will explore the musical views of war from five American composers and finish with works of consolation and peace.  The program includes:

 

     Grundman: Concord

     Bilik: American Civil War Fantasy

     Sousa: The Gallant 7th

     Williams: Theme from Schindler's List

     Bukvich: Symphony No. 1, "In Memoriam Dresden, 1945"

     Brahms: "Blessed Are They," from A German Requiem

     plus Dona Nobis Pacem, Gesu Bambino and other

     Christmas favorites.

PARKING AT DANA

Patrons may park

on Wellesley or Selwyn Avenue, but

 

OBSERVE THE  

SIGNS!

 

If you park in a No Parking zone,

you may be ticketed by the

CharMeck Police.

 

     The Queens parking lots are available on the weekends. There is one adjacent to Dana Auditorium and one across Selwyn behind the Withers House (the large white house).  There is also parking available down Wellesley Avenue past the Queens Gym just a short walk from Dana.

 

     And it's all free.

 

GROUPS WANTING TO ATTEND

 

     Dana Auditorium seats about 1100, so large groups are more than welcome.  There's no need to call ahead.  Buses can drop off patrons right at the lobby entrance.  There are areas for wheelchair seating and Dana Auditorium is handicapped-friendly.
