HOW TO JOIN |

THE CHARLOTTE CONCERT BAND WELCOMES |
|
any adult performer who is a high school graduate and has above average playing skills, especially sightreading ability.
There are many different levels of community bands and as the conductor, I feel we fall somewhere in the "above average" category. We're not the Eastman Wind Ensemble, but we do have our moments of exceptional playing (Check out "The Listening Room" for samples).
(opens a new window) An audition is required to determine appropriate placement within the band and to determine performance level for solo assignments. Also, the audition gives me, as conductor, the opportunity to learn more about you and tell you about other CCB members who may share your background. Prospective players should prepare two brief selections to demonstrate tone quality, control, range, technical ability and musicianship. These may be solos, etudes or excerpts from band or orchestral parts.
There are two scheduled audition dates to be held at Dana Auditorium (see map below) Saturday, August 9 from 9 am - noon OR Sunday, August 17 from 3 pm - 6 pm

The
CCB is much like an outstanding high
school or second college band in that there are several outstanding
players, some of whom play professionally, but there are also many
dedicated amateurs who enjoy performing and make a great contribution
within their sections. Our concerts generally include some
challenging "concert band classics" and several lighter selections and
marches to make up an enjoyable program for our audiences. You can see our
