Dr. Dawn A. Price serves as Music Director & Principal Conductor of the Charlotte Concert Band.
With over twenty-five years of teaching experience, Dr. Price previously served fifteen years as Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Wingate University, where she conducted the Wind Ensemble and the Bulldog Pep Band and taught courses in music education and conducting. Her collegiate career followed nine years of teaching high school bands in North Carolina. She currently serves as Director of Bands at Jay M. Robinson Middle School in Charlotte. Dr. Price holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from Appalachian State University. Her doctoral dissertation was on the music of Jack Stamp. A widely sought clinician and adjudicator, Dr. Price has worked with honor bands and adjudicated concert and marching festivals across North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. She has also guest conducted for several community bands, including the Winston-Salem Community Band and the Hendersonville Community Band. She is taking on a leadership role with the South Central District of the NC Bandmasters Association, where she will administer the new Program of Distinction designation, and previously served for nearly thirty years as Dean of Cannon Music Camp, held each summer on the campus of Appalachian State University. Dr. Price performs regularly on trombone with the Matthews Concert Band, Carolinas Wind Orchestra, Union Symphony Orchestra, and Palmetto Posaunen trombone choir. She holds professional memberships in the National Association for Music Education, the North Carolina Music Educators Association, the National Band Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Kappa Kappa Psi. |

John S. Herlihy, DMA, retired as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the University of Northwestern St. Paul in St. Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Herlihy's responsibilities included symphonic band and jazz Ensemble. He also coordinated the wind, brass and percussion areas and the chamber music program. Additional teaching responsibilities included Instrumental Conducting, Secondary Instrumental Methods and supervising student teachers. Before Northwestern, Dr. Herlihy was a Supervisor of Performing Arts and Director of Bands at public high schools in Long Island, New York, and southeastern Pennsylvania.
Dr. Herlihy has maintained an active performance schedule as a conductor and freelance musician, performing with the Charlotte Concert Band, Twin Cities Praise Symphony, Twin Cities Trumpet Ensemble, KCGO Big Band, Rutgers University Symphony Band, Suffolk County Music Educators Association Division III Symphonic Band, Atlantic Wind Symphony (NY), Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra, C.W. Post University Symphony Orchestra, Montgomery County, PA Honors Band and New York Mid-Island Honors Band. He has conducted or performed in pit orchestras for numerous theatrical productions throughout Long Island, New York City and the Philadelphia region. Dr. Herlihy holds a bachelor's degree in music education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree in music education from Queens College CUNY, and a doctor of musical arts in music education degree with a cognate in conducting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. He holds association memberships in the College Band Directors National Association, College Music Society, National Band Association, and National Association for Music Education. |
