MISSION & VISION
The Charlotte Concert Band (CCB) is a vibrant, volunteer community band comprised of over 80 amateur and professional musicians from the greater Charlotte area. As a 501c(3) non-profit organization, the CCB receives support through donations, grants, and collaborations within the community. Our mission is to inspire and unite instrumental musicians in the creation of memorable musical experiences. Our vision is to be Charlotte’s leading community instrumental ensemble, enriching the city’s culture and providing creative outlets for musicians from all walks of life.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Charlotte Concert Band seeks a passionate and engaging Music Director & Principal Conductor to lead and shape the artistic vision of the ensemble. Responsibilities include artistic leadership, concert preparation through weekly rehearsals on Tuesday nights during the concert season, personnel management, administrative and collaborative duties with the Board of Directors, Assistant Director, librarians, section leaders, and community partners, as well as educational and community outreach such as the management of the signature Musician for a Lifetime program designed to connect middle school students with adult musicians who exemplify the enduring enjoyment of musical involvement beyond formal education.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Significant experience conducting high school, collegiate, or community bands
- Demonstrated success working with adult amateur musicians
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Passion for encouraging musical growth for everyone
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with musicians, guest artists, educators, and community partners
